On The 8th Day of Christmas

On The 8th Day of Christmas my true love gave to me...

Decorating the outside for the holidays and winter.

Decorating the outside can be a big job. There have been some years that I have gone ALL out and others, like this year, I'm keeping it simple. My wood flower boxes were a $5 Marketplace find a few years ago. They are filled for the summer season and then switched out for the winter. I am lucky. I have them done for me. New England Gardens in Harwich is a small nursery and flower shop. They do a great job with my boxes. I drop them off, and a few days later they are done!! I know this can be an added expense but worth it. One less thing to do while also supporting a local business.

My planters in the front get small cut pine trees, the door a wreath or swag. Lights went up around the door and on our Dogwood Tree. I did stay simple this year. I reuse what I already have and get a few new things every year. The boxes I have done stay up through February. So, three months is worth the money spent.

Its fun to drive around in the evening to see all the lights of the season. We still do it. I know there is a list of the most lit homes on Cape Cod. I love to see them all. Do a little, do a lot. What ever you have the means to do.
