February On Cape Cod

February Survival Guide on Cape Cod
Things on Cape Cod are quiet. Really quiet. It is not as quiet as it was 25 years ago at this time but still a sleepy time of year. If you are one of the visitors that only come during the summer months and visit this time of year you wouldn't recognize the pace.
.
Not everything is closed but most things are. Limited shops, coffee shops, restaurants and all those fun ,summer events are closed. You know what's NOT closed? The beaches. We took a hike on Great Island in Wellfleet on the outer cape. Great Island Trail has a few options. We took the 1.9 mile trail. There is also a 3.8 and 8.8 mile round trip option. The long hike travels along the Jeremy Point overlook including the tavern loop.
.
The hike walks through the forest, the marshes, the dunes, along the Cape Cod Bay and looking out at The Atlantic. On the Atlantic side you can see Provincetown. Along the way you will see local wildlife. It's a quiet, peaceful couple of hours. There are many trails on The Cape and the winter air, tides and cold water make winter walks very unique. Find a path and explore !!
